Water Contamination

When you are using chemical cleaners, those cleaners are washed down the sink or toilet. After the area has been scrubbed, it is important to wipe down the cleaner residue and rinse out the rag, and inevitably the chemicals are rinsed down the sink in the bathroom or kitchen.

Consider this thought: Where does the chemically contaminated water go? It is easy to not think about the implications of your actions because the water simply goes down the drain and you never have to worry about seeing it again. But, there are water processing plants that have to take care of the waste water, and eventually that water will end up in the environment again. The water could evaporate, and cause an increase of pollutions in the air. Or, the water may be absorbed into the ground at some point and cause problems for the soil where it was absorbed.

Aerosol Spray Cans

It is common for chemical cleaners to be packaged in aerosol spray cans because of the ease of dispensing the product. People love the “bubbly” reaction that occurs when a cleaner is used from a can and foam is created, and for some reason the mental result is that the cleaner is more effective because of the foaming action. But, those aerosol cans can be very dangerous to the environment, because they release toxic chemicals into the air. There are some people who have suggested that aerosol cans are contributing to global warming because they have a negative impact on the earth’s ozone layer.

Environmental Problems

Allowing these types of chemicals into the environment can be dangerous for plants and animals alike. It has been found that certain types of chemicals can quickly kill plant life, which interrupts the entire eco-system of the animals and plants living that area. There is no way to completely understand the impact of environmental pollution, so the best thing to do is to avoid polluting the environment so that we don’t have to worry about the long-term effects.

Home Environment

Even if you are not an environmental activist, it is important to consider the impact that chemicals can have on your home environment. Your family is constantly breathing the air and coming into contact with any cleaners that are used on the surfaces of the home. Those chemicals can be ingested, absorbed through the skin, or assimilated through the respiratory system. When a person comes in contact with chemicals on an ongoing basis, it can have a toxic affect on that person and could even cause potential health problems.

As you can see, there are many negative results that can occur when harmful, unsafe cleaning products are used. It is better for the environment and for the health of your family to avoid those chemical cleaners and use natural solutions instead.
